GET1026 Effective Reasoning

This module was recommended by a friend. And I will recommend it to people who like MCQs and open book exams.

I would say that this was a pretty good recommendation from my friend. It was a relatively chill module. All the test are open book, which means you don't really have to study. The downside is that the bell curve is insanely steep and the questions are tricky, so I was preparing to S/U this module.

It is a philosophy module (something I have always wanted to try). Teaches you how to identify the different components of an argument, the different types of arguments and fallacies. Making simple things complicated. But you do feel slightly smarter after the lecture hahah. It can be interesting at times, but most of the time is was quite dry and technical.

The lectures were webcasted, but the LT is usually full. Why? Because the Prof gives quizzes (really pop). There are three throughout the semester. He gave one at the start of the semester and two around the end. (essentially making everyone turn up for most of the lectures)

Assessment:
Pop Quizzes (2 out of 3 counted, each 10%)
IVLE Quizzes (3, each 10%)
Tutorial (attendance and class participation, 10%)
Finals (40%)

Expected Grade: B (was hoping to do better but the bell curve was just too steep)
Actual Grade: B+ (quite happy about it)
